Abstract

Electrochemical noise (EN) method and current transient measurements have been used in to characterize metastable pitting in high zinc Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy. The outcomes are evaluated against those from scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Results of transient electrochemical analysis and image analysis are compared and explained based on heterogeneity of microstructures arising from presence of different precipitates.
