Abstract
In this paper an aluminum alloy Al6061- glass particulate metal matrix composites was prepared with different volume fraction of reinforcement 250 microns (3%, 6%, 9% and 12%) using melt stirring technique. The particle distribution in the prepared composites is observed using optical microscopy and XRD analysis. The prepared composite specimens were subjected to mechanical tests like hardness and tensile strength using Vickers hardness and uniaxial tensile testing instrument. It was observed from the results that the hardness and tensile strength increases with increase in wt% of reinforcement up to 9wt%. Hardness and tensile strength decreased for 12wt%.
