Abstract

Fifteen microsatellite markers were developed for Pissodes validirostris. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 13 and observed heterozygosity from 0.033 to 0.900. These markers will be useful to confirm the infra-specific phylogeographic patterns of this seed-feeding weevil, potential vector of the pitch canker disease of pine trees, thereby threatening their genetic resources. Most cross–species amplification was successful among the seven congeneric species tested.
