Abstract

Objective: The objective was to characterize dietary habits in a group of university students from the city of Barranquilla, Colombia Design and method: a cross-sectional observational descriptive-analytical study is proposed. A convenience sampling was carried out, students from the private university of Barranquilla district were selected, they were characterized at a sociodemographic and anthropometric level, in addition, the questionnaire Lifestyle in Young University Students (CEVJU-R) was applied. Results: 13.28% of the participants had unhealthy eating habits. With a P-value < 0.05 and a confidence level of 95%, it is stated that eating habits are associated with socioeconomic status, as well, lifestyle is associated with dietary habits. Conclusions: Conclusion: university life can become a risk factor for the development of non-transmissible diseases associated with dietary habits, which is why it is important to work on promoting healthy lifestyles
