Abstract

Slo1 is a voltage and Ca2+ activated potassium channel, involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and neuronal excitability. In this poster we are focusing on two modulators, emodepside (anthelmimetic drug in Animal Health) as an agonist and verruculogen as an antagonist. Electrophysiological investigations, using automated patch clamp measurements revealed that both modulators impair the activity of each other, indicating at least overlapping binding sites. To prove this hypothesis, mutagenesis studies were performed on insect Drosophila slo1 channel.
