Abstract

Arcobacter butzleri is an underestimated bacterial pathogen cause of human gastroenteritis. This pathogen has been unexplored in terms of occurrence and depiction of plasmid. The sequence analysis reveals that one of the human isolate of A. butzleri contains cryptic plasmid pDWAN circular molecule of 1921 bp and G + C content of 27.5 %. There are two open reading frames present in pDWAN which is similar to RepB protein. One ORF is 100 % (105/105 aa) and another ORF is 98 % (174/177 aa) identical to RepB protein. Miscellaneous binding sites and unique restriction enzyme sites were identified within the plasmid. The plasmid pDWAN found that it maintained a stable genetic element. This is the first report showing occurrence of cryptic plasmid pDWAN in A. butzleri.
