Abstract

Atomic emission detection limits of Br, C, Cl and I measured for gaseous and aqueous samples with a low-gas-flow, annular He ICP were lower than those obtained with an Ar 1CP. Measurements of electron number density, excitation temperature and rotational temperature revealed that the extent of departure from local thermal equilibrium for the He ICP was larger than that for the Ar ICP.
