Abstract

ABSTRACTFor a finite group G, let νc(G) denote the number of conjugacy classes of non-normal non-cyclic subgroups of G. We show that for every finite non-solvable group G, νc(G) = |π(G)|+1 if and only if G≅A5, the alternating group on 5 letters, or SL(2,5).
