Abstract

Concentrations and size distributions of several elements collected in highway tunnel exhaust air were measured. Passenger cars were clearly identified as the major source of Br, Cu, Pb and Sb. Impactor studies surggest that Br and Pb are due to combustion engine, while the origin of Cu and Sb are abrasion processes. Truck traffic accounts almost completely for Ba, Cr and Fe and a prominent share of Mn and Zn.
