Abstract

A comprehensive determination of the material properties is of major importance for the development of an adequate material model for finite element (FE) calculations and further lifetime estimations. As a preparation for the FE simulations, the time-, rate-, temperature- and hysteresis dependency of TPUs is determined and translated into proper hyperelastic material models. The time dependency and the viscoelastic properties were determined with DTMA tests. The methodology of fatigue testing, particularly the determination of local strain bases Wöhler curve (LSWC) for TPUs on Diabolo specimens is covered. As a validation of the whole methodology, the lifetime of a simplified model of a rubber engine mount is calculated.
