Abstract

This research paper present a general analysis technique for obtaining frequency dependent scattering parameters of edge coupled coplanar waveguide (ECCPW) gap discontinuity in centre conductors at 30 Ghz with coupling effect -17 dB. The frequency response for various gaps (g) is studied and scattering parameters plotted in the frequency range 20 -- 40 GHz for typical edge coupled coplanar waveguide dimensions. The radiation loss factor is also calculated for edge coupled coplanar waveguide gap discontinuity. The information provided by this method computationally efficient which makes the discontinuity suitable for use in complex structure applications. Edge coupled coplanar waveguide (ECCPW) gap discontinuity structure realizing on 450-μm thick GaAs substrate with dielectric constant 12.9.
