Abstract

The salient features of ionospheric scintillations at VHF at a station near the crest of the equatorial anomaly in India are derived from observations during 1987 to 1991, a period of rising solar activity. Predictions by a model due to Aarons /1/ of the nocturnal, seasonal and solar activity dependence of scintillation intensity are compared to observations at Rajkot. It is concluded that Aarons' model needs being modified for application in India.
