Abstract
Yttrium and iron co-doped strontium titanium oxide Sr0.92Y0.08Ti0.7Fe0.3O3−δ (SYTF) was investigated as an alternative anode material for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). SYTF synthesized by the Pechini method exhibits excellent phase stability during the cell fabrication processes, SOFC operation, and good electrical conductivity (about 1.03S/cm, porosity 30%) at 900°C in methane. Because of the slow electrochemical reaction on the SYTF surface, the SYTF anode was modified by a SDC thin film coating on the anode pore wall surface, to increase the number of reaction sites and also accelerate the electrochemical reaction kinetics of the anode. The SDC-modified SYTF anode cell was stable for 300 hour using methane fuel.
