Abstract
Surface pressure fluctuations are measured for the separated flow over an axisymmetric bump with an approach turbulent boundary layer of momentum thickness Reynolds number, Re θ = 7300. Its thickness, δ δ δ δ is the half of bump height. The flows make a featu re of highly unsteady saddle-focus separations on the lee side curved surface. The magnitude of surface pressure fluctuation is higher on the leesi de than the windward side. The power spectral levels of pressure fluctuations are high i n the low frequency region and they contribute dominantly to the resulting surface pres sure fluctuation on the leeside. In the separated region, large-scaled eddy structures asso ciated with the stream-wise vortices emanated from three-dimensional separations are major source for the pressure fluctuation generation and the rapid spectral decay is observed . From the approximate analysis, the asymmetric negative skewed histogram of surface pressure fluctuations appears in the separated region.
