Abstract

In this study, the sap flow and transpiration rate of Caragana korshinskii,a well-growing shrub species, and their affecting environmental factors in the Mu Us Sandland in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,China, were tested and observed by using the Dynamax sap flow testing system,JA2103N millesimal balance and automatic meteorological station. The results are as follows:(1) The daily variation curve of sap flow velocity in Caragana korshinskii stem is in a multimodal distribution;the sap flow starts at 7:00,it is up to the highest around 9:00 and drops to the lowest around 20:00,its value varies in a range of 168~450 g/h,and the sap flow also flows at night;(2) Diurnal variation curve of sap flow does not accord with that of transpiration rate of Caragana korshinskii leaves, and the dynamic change of transpiration rate of Caragana korshinskii leaves can not be revealed by the measured values of sap flow;(3) The daily trend of sap flow velocity accords with that of environmental factors. The correlation analysis reveals that the main factors affecting the variation of sap flow in shrubs are the effective solar radiation, soil moisture content, air temperature and air relative humidity.
