Abstract

Pyrolysis pattern of polybutadienes (PB) with different microstructures were characterized using pyrolysis-gas chromatography (pyrolysis-GC). PBs with different content ratios of the cis-1,4-, trans-1,4-, and 1,2-units were used. Major pyrolysis products were found to be C 4H 6 (butadiene), C 5H 8 (cyclopentene), C 6H 10 (cyclohexene), C 7H 10 (1,4-cycloheptadiene), and C 8H 12 (4-vinylcyclohexene). The butadiene and 4-vinylcyclohexene were produced from all the three components, while the 1,4-cycloheptadiene was formed from the 1,2-sequence.
