Abstract

The characteristics of plastic scintillators of particular relevance to their use as large detectors is briefly discussed. In the last two years some new plastics have appeared on the market. We present the first data on the relative light attenuation by these plastics measured under identical conditions for all the plastics. The results are summarized in table 1 together with some other important qualities of these plastics. It is hoped that these results will assist in the design of large area detectors.
