Abstract

Nothocriconema petasum is redescribed from topotypes and a range of measurements is provided. New characters include two head annules, greater diameter of the stylet knobs, and a more posterior position of the excretory pore. A juvenile female and adult male are described and illustrated for the first time. The most distinctive character of the juvenile is the presence of minute spines on the scale margins. The distinctive characters of the male are a conoid tail of 16 annules and 53 μm with a finely rounded terminus, four incisures, spicules of 37 μm with a well developed manubrium, and a rudimentary bursa.
