Abstract

This paper describes a transfer function model based on frequency domain signal measurements and mathematical analysis, for a transformer winding model which consists of an interleaved disc winding and a plain disc winding. The transfer function can be used to investigate the transferred signal characteristics and determine its original location. The influence of the transformer oil and tank on the propagation characteristics of high frequency signals within the winding model has also been investigated. Experiments were carried out with the transformer winding being placed in air, in the tank without oil, and in the oil-filled tank respectively. Obtained results can be explained using an equivalent circuit simulation.
