Abstract

Hammering sheet metal is a work to repair the unevenness of car body using by just hammer and dolly. Sheet metal engineers are required to have a high level of skill because the shape of the car body to be repaired is different each time. The purpose of this study is to clarify the position of the hammering position and the position of the dolly during hammering by experts, and the distance between the dent and the hammering position and the dolly. The sheet metal engineers were instructed to repair the fender with a dent that looked like the damage by hammering sheet metal. A 3D motion analysis system measured this repair. As a result, the experts hammered above or a 25 mm range below the dent while changing the position to the left and right of the dent. In many cases, the dolly moved in conjunction with the hammering position.
