Abstract

In order to improve the efficiency of DC/DC converters, a synchronous rectifier circuit using MOSFETs is used. Using the synchronous rectifier, the loss of the rectifier is decreased. However, the disadvantage of the circuit is that the efficiency is low at light load. In this paper, the synchronous rectifier circuit is applied to a zero-current-switched converter, and the way of controlling the signal given to the MOSFETs is examined to improve the efficiency at light load. When the output power is below 2.5 W the efficiency can be improved about 7 percent.
