Abstract

In order to clarify the relationship between the corrosion and fatigue strength of reinforced concrete (RC) members, fatigue loading tests and corrosion checks were carried out by using RC beam specimens damaged by accelerated galvanostatic corrosion to obtain the following results. First, the crack pattern of RC beam specimens damaged by accelerated corrosion is different from that of the control RC beam specimen with no corrosion. Second, the fatigue strength of RC beam specimen decreases in proportion to the weight loss of tensile reinforcing bar caused by corrosion.
