Abstract

SUMMARY: Nine isolates of cellulolytic, Gram-positive motile rods obtained from the rumen contents of sheep fed on teff hay were identified as belonging to the genus Cillobacterium Prévot. In most respects the organisms resembled C. cellulosolvens and it is proposed that the definition be extended to include the characteristics of the present strains.
