Abstract
The characteristics of two kinds of bifilar helix circuit are discussed in this paper. One is alike wound bifilar helix and another is contrawound bifilar helix. Alike wound bifilar helix is often used in O-type backward wave tube (BWO). Owing to wider operating bandwidth, higher interaction impedance and large dimensions, the contrawound helix is suitable for broadband millimeter wave traveling wave tube (MMW TWT).
