Abstract

Direct drive of a high-speed and large-output compressor with a variable-speed converter-fed induction motor improves system efficiency and extends maintenance cycle. However, verification of motor characteristics by full load test requires huge cost. This cost is in the way of users9 getting up the direct drive system. This paper proposes a method to estimate the motor characteristics from two kinds of test, no-load test with converter drive and DC decay test. In addition, loaded temperature estimation method from no-load test and equivalent load test is also proposed. Comparison of the characteristics estimation and actual load test result shows the proposing method gives estimated values with higher accuracy without full load test.
