Abstract
C60/C70+Ni film structures were studied by transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction. Both methods demonstrated the multiphase structure of the films. Ni nano-crystals embedded in a carbonaceous matrix, and areas with amorphous and crystalline fullerene structures were observed. Ni nano-crystals encapsulated by graphite shells were found. NiO clusters and/or nano-crystals were observed and their presence was confirmed by the dark field image method. The cold emitting properties of the film were discussed with respect to the structural features.
