Abstract

The benefits of microbubble ultrasound contrast agents have been repeatedly demonstrated, both in ultrasound image enhancement and more recently in drug and gene delivery applications. However, existing theoretical descriptions are inadequate in many respects and despite considerable investigation, the behaviour of contrast agents is by no means fully understood. The aim of this project is to address the deficiencies in contrast agent characterisation, with the aim of optimising their design.
