Abstract

On the basis of systematically reviewing the relevant research literature on foreign language studying anxiety domestically and internationally, this paper focuses on four aspects: the identification of anxiety about studying a foreign language and the creation of evaluation methods, the impacts of studying a second language fear of acquiring a new language, the impact of personality on studying a new language, the connection between personality, anxiety related to studying a second language, and its consequences for teaching. Numerous findings imply that stress has a detrimental effect on second language studying. Additionally, some research has shown that anxiety has a detrimental influence on particular parts of studying a second language in addition to how well a person performs overall. In addition, the correlation of specific personality traits, like confidence, introversion, emotional stability, self-esteem, etc. with learning a second language has been demonstrated in numerous research. Finally, the paper discusses the pedagogical implications of these findings.
