Abstract

In present times, the Internet of Things (IoT) is changing human lives and their functioning to a great scale. In IoT, the major emphasis is on the interconnection of sensor devices like coffee machines and smart cell phones for exchanging data between them during various interactions. Due to the easier connectivity in IoT for various devices, the amount of data generated is rising exponentially and operations are getting complex due to the voluminous amount of data generated. Big data storage and its analytics is one such area where efficiency can be raised in terms of collection of data, processing, and analytics. There are a number of studies in state-of-the-art where big data-based approaches are used in IoT. However, the challenge of analyzing IoT data in real time still needs to be addressed. The authors in this chapter are proposing a big data approach for solving the analytics problem in IoT systems. This chapter is supported by the basic concepts of big data and IoT. The necessity of the use of big data pipelines in IoT is discussed in this chapter as well.
