Abstract

This chapter explores fundamental energy sources like solar radiation, geothermal energy of the Earth, and tidal energy caused by gravitation as the readily available sources of renewable energy. Based on them, major planetary cycles like water, carbon, nitrogen, wind and ocean circulation are discussed as the introduction to the evaluation of primary energy sources. In detail, this chapter further focuses on biomass, solid fuels, crude oil, natural gas, and nuclear fuel, presenting description of properties, detailed quantitative estimation, and extraction technologies behind.
