Abstract
While the concept of codependency is said to apply equally to the behavior of men and women, little has been written that discusses the meaning of the concept within the context of male behavior and psychology. This paper explores some of the critical issues faced in the treatment of men affected by the addiction of a parent or a partner. Based on the author's personal reflection and clinical observation, it describes the differing approaches to issues of power that distinguish codependent experience from more traditional male norms of behavior.
