Abstract
Abstract The chapter provides a brief overview of the current understanding of sensitivity of energetic materials to detonation, highlights the most recent advancements in quantum-chemical modeling and simulations of earliest chemical reactions, and emphasizes the role of structural and electronic defects and deformations in initiation of explosive decomposition of materials. An analysis of theoretical and computational results is presented in the context of available experimental data.
