Abstract

Legal education in China has experienced three stages of development including renewal, reformation, and comprehensive development, all due to the intensive and continuous expansion of the rule of law. Considerable changes have occurred in the guiding principles of school management, educational philosophy, school management models, and training goals. This legal education system features the most variety in terms of institutional forms and levels, the most comprehensive academic disciplines and majors, and the highest specifications for training talented individuals. This chapter introduces the development and transformation of legal education and the legal profession in China. It investigates the relationship between the two, including the main problems facing legal education and its future development.
