Abstract

This chapter deals with a widespread modern notion of self-conception and its problems concerning the consciousness of political reality. The political dimension of early modern esotericism was its 'utopian potential', that realizes itself by self-salvation of the individual on his way to the divine, or - in a secularized manner - as a quest for a concrete new political society. The meaning of existence in the esoteric context can be deduced from the dynamic relation between involution and evolution. Assuming the psycho-esoteric statements in the sphere of being, the sphere of knowledge and the teleological sphere, we can finally summarize, that the characteristics of the psycho-esoterical consciousness or mentality can be evaluated. The mode of identical self-consciousness correlates on the second level of 'horizontal transcendence' to a consciousness of sociality that negates difference and plurality. Keywords: modern esotericism; political reality; psycho-esoteric constructions; salvation; transcendence
