Abstract

Smart homes are becoming more popular due to their ability to improve various aspects of life inside homes. These homes utilize advanced technologies to provide convenience, security, healthcare, and energy management solutions. While smart homes offer numerous benefits, they also come with certain risks, particularly in terms of cyber security. This chapter focuses on exploring the cyber security concerns in smart homes. This chapter begins by providing a brief overview of smart home architecture and services. It then delves into a detailed analysis of the security risks and challenges associated with smart homes. These risks can include unauthorized access to smart home devices, data breaches, and privacy concerns. We discuss the need for effective solutions to address these security issues. In light of the identified risks, we explore novel solutions to enhance the security of smart homes. These solutions may involve implementing robust authentication mechanisms and intrusion detection systems. By addressing these security challenges, smart homes can continue to evolve as safe and reliable environments for individuals and families. Overall, this chapter seeks to uncover the importance of cyber security in smart homes.
