Abstract
Marine-based cosmeceutical ingredients are gaining favor with cosmetic companies as they are plentiful and provide skin benefits. Sea water and sea mud are known to rejuvenate skin. Algae contains biologically active compounds that can be used to protect and improve appearance of aging skin. Marine- derived collagen is found in nutraceuticals marketed for hair, skin and nails. In this chapter, actives ingredients sourced from the sea and organisms that live there will be reviewed.
