Abstract

As human beings, we create our world and our belief systems through communication: having a developed precortex permits us to imagine and create highly complex communication systems. However, the narrative we followed until now regarding the food sector has been unsustainable and disruptive for our planet. In fact, unsustainable systems are able to maintain themselves only if they are accompanied by a strong communication and belief system. So the way we communicate around the food sector is crucial to develop better and more sustainable food systems. Studies show the unsustainability of our food systems: high water use, widespread pesticides use and resistance, mono variety crops, increase in diet-related disease. How have we got here? Which communication and which belief system has led us here? New values are needed to drive our actions as consumers, businesses, and social actors.
