Abstract

Recent years have witnessed tremendous improvement in the development of efficient approaches for constructing carbon–carbon bonds via oxidative coupling of two different C–H bonds. This chapter focuses on cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (CDC) reactions utilizing oxygen as the terminal oxidant. Because it is more benign, sustainable and atom economic, such strategies constitute important alternatives to traditional cross-coupling methods and offer new opportunities for the design of novel transformations with broad potential applications in chemical synthesis and material science.
