Abstract

All living beings require water. In the present scenario, the population of the entire world is increasing, and thus, more water is required to fulfill the demands of the increasing population. The water sources are limited, and potable water availability is very low globally. To overcome the situation of water crises, we need to make available water to the increasing population by subjecting it to proper treatment so it can be reused. Water has numerous applications in various fields, such as it is used in agriculture, industry, household work, drinking, etc. Therefore, a proper water management system is necessary for any country’s sustainable development. Most diseases are water-born, so clean and germ-free water plays a key role in maintaining good health. Besides, clean water is a key source for promoting all those activities which contribute significantly to a nation’s sustainable development. In this discussion, various water and wastewater treatment techniques have been comprehensively evaluated based on their application cost and utility in a nation’s sustainable development.
