Abstract

High dielectric permittivity materials are usually required in advanced applications of the electrical/electronics industry. However, single-component materials cannot satisfy the requirements of high-dielectric materials. Polymer-based nanocomposites, with their combination of dielectric/conductive fillers and polymers, are good candidates for the required high-permittivity materials, due to their tunable dielectric properties, thermal stability, and good mechanical properties, especially their flexibility. In this chapter, the first part introduces some fundamentals of dielectrics and dielectric materials. In Sections 8.2–8.4, different high-permittivity polymer-based nanocomposites with dielectric fillers, conductive fillers, and hybrid fillers are introduced. The fabrication methods and the applications of high dielectric polymer-based nanocomposites are also discussed. The last section gives the conclusions and future perspectives for the polymer-based nanocomposites with high dielectric permittivity.
