Abstract

Emerging technologies are becoming a vital part of the healthcare sector. The adoption of machine learning (ML) tools, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the healthcare system improves the overall quality of healthcare services. These modern data management techniques being employed in the traditional healthcare system require continuous up-gradation to get maximum output efficiently. Due to several limitations of the traditional data collection techniques on account of varying complexity and a vast amount of data engendered by the healthcare system from hospitals, medical research centers, clinical laboratories, healthcare equipment's, patient's insurance, etc. The introduction of ML, AI and IoT technologies in the present healthcare system could lead to the development of a smart comprehensive healthcare scenario, which carries huge potential and opportunities to solve enormous problems existing in the present traditional healthcare systems. The collected data with the help of artificial intelligence could be employed to analyze the different patterns generated from varied data to form universal solutions that could serve as a vital aid to solve many healthcare problems. In this chapter, we discuss the impressions of Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence in Rehabilitation with a focus on the Internet of Things in Healthcare for improving the quality and delivery of healthcare services. The major aspect of this chapter is the integration of AI, ML, and IoT to enhance the reliability of data-driven generated results to provide accurate solutions for all healthcare-related problems with special emphasis on rehabilitation technologies for the disabled population. These modern technologies are being employed in ubiquitous computing, especially smart environments, intelligent mobile and wearable devices, and other assistive technologies for patient care. The smart use of these technologies could lead to revolution of the healthcare technologies globally which may improve the quality of care being provided to the patients and improve their health condition at an early stage of the disease.
