Abstract

Attributed to well-defined architecture, dendrimers are being explored extensively in the field of drug delivery and nanomedicine. The nanometric size, multiple surface functional groups, and versatility of dendrimers have fascinated the horizon of medicine system. The unique properties including well-defined size, globular shape, internal cavities, predictable molecular weight, and multivalency enforced application of dendrimers in drug delivery. Presence of hydrophilic surface groups and hydrophobic cavity spaces render dendrimers ability to interact with its host molecules physically via noncovalent association or chemically by covalent interaction. In this chapter, we reviewed different types of dendrimers which have been explored in drug delivery.
