Abstract

Production of sizable amount of food is mandatory to feed the world's inflating population. This gospel truth has prompted the creation and widespread use of synthetic pesticides as a rapid and efficient method of controlling agricultural pests. However, excessive dependence on synthetic pesticides is discouraged because of the harm they do to the environment, people's health, and building of insect pest's resistance. These rationales together with the rising preference for foods grown organically sparked a search for alternative methods of pest control. To establish sustainability within the agricultural ecosystem, adoption of Good Agricultural Practices and effective strategies of Integrated Pest Management are indispensable. Constructive utilization of these management practices adds economic advantages in the form of continued development, higher productivity, and decreased pest damage for a better and healthier environment, which has got long-term benefits for everyone.
