Abstract
Nanotheranostics that incorporate therapeutic and biomarker moieties in single nanoplatform show wide-scale possibility for noninvasive diagnosis, real-time monitoring, and treatment of brain cancer. This review discusses the application of different classified nanoparticles as theranostics for brain cancer. This includes magnetic nanoparticles, metallic nanoparticles (gold nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles, mesoporous silica nanoparticles, and quantum dots), polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, and lipid nanoparticles (solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers). No doubt nanotheranostics provide futuristic scope for diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer; still improvement in regulatory affairs, collaboration of different sectors such as private or government are required for successful conversion of nanotheranostics concept into clinical studies.
