Abstract

In this chapter will be addressed the signaling mechanisms related to oxidative stress underlying cold ischemia associated with liver transplantation and the involvement of oxidative stress in marginal livers undergoing liver transplantation. Also will be discussed therapeutic strategies designed in the last 5years with the aim of reducing oxidative stress in the context of liver transplantation and their protective effects. Identifying features on the role of oxidative stress in cold ischemic conditions and marginal livers, and the advantages and disadvantages of the protective strategies that have been tried, could be the basis to guide the design of better strategies that can succeed in achieving its clinical application.
