Abstract

Issues related to nutrition and growth have received considerable attention in children with congenital heart defects, particularly in those with single ventricle physiology (Hsu et al., 2010; Burch et al., 2014). Similarly, there is a growing body of literature on the impact of nutritional status and body habitus on outcomes in children with heart failure. Nutritional surveillance and intervention are important in this patient population and should be integrated in the care of children with heart failure. Under nutrition has been associated with worse survival in children with heart failure. The impact of body habitus on posttransplant survival remains controversial.
