Abstract
Abstract This chapter reviews the recent developments in the theory of light diffraction. The improved diffraction theory of Kirchhoff is outlined and its main foundations are discussed. The boundary diffraction wave theory, which depends on the line integral reduction of surface integrals, is investigated in the context of the improved theory of Kirchhoff. The advantages of the improved theory are highlighted. The uniform versions of edge and corner diffracted waves are also investigated.
