Abstract

Amidst tremendous challenges of climate change, increasing resource scarcity, and biodiversity loss, sustainable business models are increasingly being attractive to promote the reorganization of current value-creation architectures toward a system of sustainable system of consumption and production. This chapter aims to explore different sustainable business models and their prospects and challenges to propose a framework to achieve sustainable development through effective implantation of a new sustainable business innovation system. Providing a better panorama toward the transition to sustainable development this chapter also highlights the new economics of sustainable consumption and its associated features.
