Chapter 6 - Future needs from the Smart Mega City (SMC) plans—smart green city—the case of Istanbul

Abstract

As a complex result with several dimensions, the concept of “Smart City” has become increasingly widespread and various projects have been passed on to international platforms. The vision of a smart city depends on the importance of technology, especially Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Environmental themes are an important part of intelligent city goals. In smart city vision, initiatives focus on improving city wisdom: When technology-based solutions that reintegrate human life with green are taken into consideration, the concept of “Smart City” evolves into the concept of “Smart Green City.”
