Abstract

The ever-expanding role of clinical informatics in the digital age has had a profound impact on healthcare. This has necessitated a focus on education of healthcare professionals about their role in the digital healthcare environment and associated ethical considerations. Ethical challenges in use of secondary data, social media (SM), mobile computing devices, telemedicine, and implications for research have been reviewed in this chapter. Digitalization of data provides wide ranging learning opportunities. This chapter further explores the digital responsibilities of a learner in an educational context. Digital competency in health care is a shared responsibility of both learners and educators.
